Evening Standard (UK): "A sublime forest hideaway and a great place to chill after a safari, in the middle of the Garden Route, 27km from Plettenberg Bay and 15km from Nature's Valley Beach. Both have fine surf beaches. The 12 rooms all have decks with hammocks, the best way to enjoy jungle views of indigenous hardwoods and the distant Tsitsikamma Mountains. Expect tasteful African art (no giant giraffes), earthy tones and naturally woven fabrics. Activities available from the lodge include canoeing, riding, whale watching, mountain biking and bungee jumping." March 2004
Frommer's Guide: "Rooms are supremely comfortable (each has a fireplace and hammock) and very private (many are freestanding). Hog Hollow is renowned for their food and it truly is exceptional... The service is excellent."
Rough Guide: "Recommended for a congenial splurge and its top reputation for food. Each of the ethnic-styled chalets, done out in earthy colours and spiced up with African artefacts, has a bath or shower and its own wooden deck with vistas across the forest and Tsitsikamma Mountains."
